SALT Merch
SALT began flameworking in 2001, in his hometown of Austin, Texas. Over the last 19 years, he has spent his time pioneering, developing and refining a sculptural approach to glass that has become commonly known as the SALT style. This organic and evolution-based style stands as a direct reflection of the hostile environment that functional glass art was immersed in when the functional glass movement began. A SALT piece is equipped to fight back, not only to defend itself from criticism and legal attack, but also to protect its owners from prosecution and itself from damage. With a very long list of collaborative partners, multiple wins in various competitions, honors such as performing the first functional demonstration at a GAS conference, and teaching at high level facilities such as Corning Museum of Glass and the Penland School of Craft, SALT has accomplished many of his goals as a glass artist. SALT's works have also been featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal, Hot Breath Magazine, and Glass Aficionado. In addition, SALT made his debut in 2007 in the Flow Magazine's first functional issue and SALT's works have become a staple facet in countless glass industry-based publications. Besides being extrememy prolific and evolving his style, SALT has also made an effort to bring a sense of inclusivity and community to this art form. SALT Glass continues to be one of the most highly recognizable iterations of glass as an art medium, and can be found throughout thousands of collections worldwide.
